I have had several positions relating to dietetics and food service, such as working as a dietary aide at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center, volunteering as a floor worker and in the kitchen at the George Street Co-op/ Cafe, volunteering as an assistant to the sports dietitian at the Rutgers Hale Center, and as Newsletter Chair of the Rutgers Nutrition Club I have been able to educate my peers at Rutgers on nutrition and health.
I have had other jobs that are more tied to my minor in visual arts, such as running my own art store and freelance illustration. Although, I think the skills that I learned from these jobs have helped me in other areas of my life as well. I have become more detail oriented, learned how to keep track of inventory and calculate monthly income and costs, learned how to market products, and developed the skill of understanding what my clients want when sending me design ideas. The communication skills I have learned from these jobs will translate well when working with patients in a clinical setting or when trying to educate community members.
